NEW CHANGES

Our goal at FeminSTEM has always been to instill a passion of discovery within girls around the GTA. This year, by respecting the public health guidelines of the City of Toronto, we are hosting a Virtual Mentorship Program for high school students!

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Virtual Mentorship Program aims to provide an engaging space that will encourage the students to discover different fields of interest within the STEM disciplines. Through the stimulating workshops provided by our mentors, the students will still get to experience ideas within STEM directly. Learning about interesting topics in STEM and hearing from women that continue STEM in post-secondary education would help them gain a better understanding of their options. In addition, it would also reinforce and fulfill our primary mission with the goals of exposure, educational workshops, and leadership.

We will be hosting a one week program and dedicate each day to a different field of STEM. At the end of the week, a panel discussion will be held where students will get a chance to hear the experiences of girls in STEM and more on topics of innovative research, post-secondary education in the STEM fields, and personal career journeys.

THE MENTORS

At FeminSTEM, we have been working hard to bring together role models from various areas within STEM that are excited to share their experiences with the students. Mentors engage with the students directly, developing engaging seminars based on their work. Students get a first-hand learning style that ranges from simple Q&A sessions to thought-provoking activities.
